Make Your Failures Positive | SSHS

Hello everyone!

How are you all doing? Have you started school already? How’s school going for you? I hope it’s all the best!

You all know that we started school last June and that we had our first quarter exams already and guess what?

We had our report card distribution last Saturday!!!

I honestly have mixed emotions. I’m satisfied with all of my subjects but Math. I failed the Math subject!!! No, not literally fail but you don’t become an awardee if you have grades below 85 and my Math grade was 80. I was like “ah!! I was one step closer to become an awardee!!!”

My average grade was 90. I was qualified to become an awardee but because I have below 85, I wasn’t able to. It’s alright for me though, I still have another chance and I’ll do better next time!!!!

If ever you’re failing, make it positive. Make it your motivation to study even more and harder everyday. I know, some subjects must be really hard but with proper understanding, you can do it!!

Sorry for this quick update. Long post soon when I find the time! I hope you’re all having a lovely day wherever you are and please be happy!!!! 🙂

Pressure | SSHS

Hello everyone!! Ahhh it’s been 7 days since I last posted and it feels so weird!! It’s mid-August and I have only posted two blog posts so far this month. Geez, quite unproductive and it’s just surreal.

Anyway, this is just a short post about how I handled pressure and how it affected me during the exams. Yes, we’ve had our exams these last three days (16th-18th) and I’m really nervous about the results.

I’ve studied so much. I often go to sleep at 1 am so I really hope my hardwork and effort gets paid off. But the thing is I some of the questions in the test are really not included in what I’ve reviewed!! Another thing is pressure. Gah. I really hate it.

When I was taking the tests, I always look at the time and see if I have time left for the remaining questions. I also look at my seatmates and see if they are finished in answering the test or not. My seatmates are in the 12th grade so basically we don’t have the same type of test but it scares me everytime they are already finished and I’m still in the middle of answering. Another thing that happened to me was I know the right answer, but I shaded the wrong box. Geez!

I don’t really know how I handled the pressure. But one thing I can say now is… TESTS ARE OVER AND I’M BACK!!! I’ll spend the night reading your blogposts and interacting with you. ❤

How I Study For Exams + TIPS!! | SSHS

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!!! It’s been weeks since I last posted because I really haven’t had the time to prepare a post. But anyways, here it is now!

As you can read in the title, I’m sharing how I study for exams and what’s the most effective way for me. You may or may not agree.

Why? Sometimes the teacher discusses too fast. I don’t like my notes and my handwriting to be ugly. I swear, I lose all the good vibes and it makes me lazy if my notes are just so messed up. I simply don’t like it and it makes me feel so unproductive and untidy. However, I keep all the notes in my clearbook and I re-write them again when exams are near. Rewriting is an effective way for me to memorize my notes and to reflect on it. It feels like if I write something, then I’ll remember it until the test comes up. Anyone else here who’s like me? Haha.

Seriously, though. Sometimes my brother would look at me in my room because I’m so loud in reviewing and he looks at me weirdly. Sometimes he asks me if I’m doing a chant or whatever. Especially when I study for Italian language!! Haha. Anway, I really feel like I memorise the terms and learn when I say things aloud.

This is SO unhealthy. I hate this routine, I promise. But whenever I get home from school, I feel so tired and whenever I reach my bedroom, my bed’s always attracting me. And then boo, I’ll sleep for like 3-4 hours and when I wake up, it’s 1am or 2am already. I want to change this one. Yes it’s somewhat effective for my studies BUT I need to be healthy as well. Especially now, I’m looking so pale.

Yellow pad is required for us but I’m pretty sure it will work too in the normal pad paper. I only have like 3 binders with me and all of my reviewers are written in a yellow pad. I don’t really write in notebooks, I find it boring. Unlike when I was in JHS, I always write notes in a notebook.

It annoys me so much if my notes are untidy. I’m still not in the mood to re-write but fun fact, my notes in Math are sooooo >_< Can’t wait to find the motivation to re-write my notes!

And that’s all I can think of now. As you can see, I’m not a really nice student but I’m trying to be one. So here are some of my tips if you want to study effectively:

  1. Find a review time that suits you, your mind and your body. You really need willingness in this one. As you’ve read earlier, I’m quite struggling yet with my review time. But I hope you find the time that suits you!
  2. Make your school materials clean and organised. So whenever there will be activities, you know where to find your stuff.
  3. Having nice notes will motivate you to study. And you can also make your notes a blogger-ish one. Swear it’s lovely to look at!
  4. Sleep right on time. I need to apply this for myself. Don’t push yourself too hard. Don’t procrastinate. Do the stuff you have to do when you have the time because seriously, YOU NEED SLEEP TO SURVIVE. (And food, of course hehe.)
  5. Last one is… take care of yourself! If you don’t, you may suffer from an illness. And always take care of your emotional state. What you feel and what your body feel is what matters the most! Grades don’t define who you are– but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to study anymore. :p

I hope you liked this post and I hope this will help you as a student. Lol, haha! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

How do you review for exams?

My After School Routine | SSHS

Hello everyone!! Here’s another post because I feel like I have SO much free time but the truth is, I need to study for three upcoming exams. Haha, wish me luck! Anyway, school can really be tiring and here’s my after school routine. However, my routine changes because you guys know me, my mind changes a lot from time to time.

My After School Routine | SSHS

Okay first of all, it’s weird to say that I’m actually studying because I’ve never done that in my entire life. But here’s my routine after I get home from school:

  • Sleep or take a rest.

Okay so the first thing I do is take a rest, and if I’m lucky enough, I’d sleep for an hour or so. And there was one time where I really need to study for a test but my nap continued and I woke up the day after. I was really panicking and I didn’t know what to do. It was already set in my mind to wake up after an hour but because I’m just SO lucky, I slept through the whole night and didn’t study at all. BUT the good thing is, I still passed the test. I got 40/46 in our Science test and my only mistake was I didn’t follow the instruction– if I did, then my score might be even higher. That was a lesson for me– indeed a lesson. Hah.

  • Feed my cats & eat dinner with fam.

I can’t just ignore my pets so I still feed them. Here’s another story: You guys know that Muning has only three kittens, right? Sharpie, Veena and Tiny– but one time when I got home from school, I looked at their haul and I was so confused. Why was there four kittens inside the cage? And the other kitten was white, and looks exactly like Sharpie! I was really confused and I asked my mum about the kittens. I remember there were only three kittens. I start to wonder what if I’m just dreaming? Haha. But I saw my dad laughing, I asked him where did he get the other kitten and dad said that the kitten was lost so he kept it. And I already gave him a name as well. He is called Perry– he looks like Elline’s cat so I named him Perry as well.

Okay, story aside, after feeding my cats, I go now and feed myself– studies is life but being healthy is lifer. Haha.

  • Take a shower.

But there are times that I can’t really do this because I’m so tired and at the same time, I have SO much to do. If I can’t take a shower, I just change my clothes and I get ready to study for the night.

  • Study.

I don’t think I can call “this” as studying already. But yeah, I do read notes but only when there are exams and assignments. I’m not really the studious type aha. Anyway, I think there’s a name for this but my study habit is I write then I read. I write, I really repeat all my notes and then I read for a few times, and then I feel like I can remember what I wrote. We all have different study habits so cheers if you have the same study habit as mine!

  • Wash face and brush teeth.

I can’t avoid this one! So after I finish studying, I refreshen myself again and I use Cetaphil for my face. It’s just so soft and I feel so fresh after applying it to my face– even if it’s so late at night. Haha.

  • Sleep again.

To be totally honest, I need sleep. I really do. It’s really hard and sometimes I don’t really notice the time and realise that it’s already 1am or so. And then my classmates would ask me if I even slept because of my eye bags. I just don’t mind them.

What is your after school routine?

Have a lovely day, fellas!

    Acceptance | SSHS

Change is inevitable and you need to accept every change that comes in your way.

I know, it’s hard to adjust with the change. It’s been a month already since we started school, but I don’t think I can say that I’m already used to my new routines and to the new people around me.

It’s hard. New people are in your way, new ideas, conflicts and so much more. It’s also hard to cope up with the environment and trust me, there are people who will always stare at you, and if you’re paranoid, you’ll get scared. The people who stares at you may be a group of guys or a group of girls, but think deeper. Think outside the box. Ask yourself, why do they look at me?

    • Do I look ugly?
    • Did I do something wrong?
    • What’s wrong with me? Is there a dirt on my face? Why are they staring?

And then you’ll think of that, you’ll start to ignore yourself and the positivity around you. But let’s make it the other way around. They look at you because:

    • You are beautiful.
    • They see something good in you.
    • They want to be your friend.
    • There may be some conflict around you and them, but that would be solved with a proper communication.

If you don’t really know each other and they continue to look at you, then just accept it. Accept the fact that they can’t get their eyes off you. Think positive. You are beautiful and your inside self knows that.

Another problem with adjusting with change is the lessons and the teachers. You might come from a public school before and you’re so used to the openness during discussions; and your former teachers in your private school before are so close to you but now, what happened? You rarely talk with the teachers. It’s hard to adjust, but what I can say again is accept.

Accept whatever’s happening in your life right now, because pure acceptance results to pure actions and good works. And always remember that Jesus is always there for you, so accept His plans and glorify Him always. Do not interfere with what the Lord is doing with your life; He knows what’s best for you, and for everyone of us. So just accept whatever life throws at you. I know and I believe, that you’re going to pass through it all with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ. ❤

I wrote this for everyone who’s adjusting to the change, because I myself is also adjusting too. It’s hard, I swear, it’s hard. But as with God, I can do all things and pass through this.

And hey, you. Yes, you, who are currently reading. I want you to smile right now and tell yourself that you can do it. You can surpass life’s problems… just trust the Lord. 🙂
