100 Tula Para Kay Stella | Film Review

Hello everyone!! First, I’d like to say that there will be three posts going up tonight. Second, stay tuned about my upcoming posts. I missed blogging so much and there might be collabs coming up soon!! *winks*

It’s currently raining. It’s cold. I am also sick so I hope there won’t be classes tomorrow. Haha. I’m also afraid to see my test results. I’m not ready ahh! Anyway so for today’s first post, I’ll be reviewing a film that I’ve just watched yesterday. It’s a Filipino film and I don’t really know if it will be showing international. But I hope they do so, it’s a film that everyone must see!

Title: 100 Tula Para Kay Stella (100 Poems for Stella)

Directed by: Jason Paul Laxamana

Production Company: VIVA Films

Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama

Fidel, starts his college life which wasn’t easy for him. He has a speech defect and he has this ‘three word rule’. During the freshies night, he got bullied and that’s when he met Stella, an aspiring rock star or musician. Throughout their entire college years, Fidel writes 100 poems for Stella to win her heart.

As much as possible, I don’t want to give any spoilers but if ever there’s any, I’m apologising already.

The film is all about Fidel, Stella and their entire college life. Stella was an inspiring rock star and she dreamt of performing in a huge crowd where the people will sing her music. Fidel on the other hand, is an intelligent student which has a speech defect. He can only maximize his speech to three words. He likes writing poems and when he met Stella, she became his inspiration in writing.

The film honestly broke my heart and I cried A LOT. The film also used good music which made my feelings go like crazy. The film made me want to study hard, be close with all my blockmates and fall in love. Kidding at the latter part, haha.

I kind of disliked Stella’s personality but she was just so good to Fidel and she never judged him. Stella once said in the freshies night (one of the scenes in the film), “college is where you’ll know yourself.” Not the exact words but because of that, Fidel got inspired and fell inlove with Stella eventually.

The last part of the movie honestly made me go like crazy. But I really like that they featured Mt. Arayat but the scene there was so heartbreaking. I don’t want to get in that part so much because I might say spoilers.

Anyway, the actors really did good on their parts and it’s honestly a game changer for the both of the actors. (Bela Padilla and JC Santos.) You’ll fall in love with the both of them.

This film is a must-watch! I hope I watched all the films in Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino but I don’t have time anymore to see the other films. I really wish I had, though.

Have you seen 100 Tula Para Kay Stella? What can you say about the film?

The Boss Baby | Film Review

Hello everyone! Today I’ll be reviewing a movie that I’ve just recently watched, which is The Boss Baby. I haven’t made a film review for so long and I’ve had thought to make another one today.

Directed by: Tom McGrath

Based on: The Boss Baby by Marla Freeze

Production Company: DreamWorks Animation

Running time: 98 minutes

A new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the poiny of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator — a wildly imaginative 7-year-old named Tim. The most unusual Boss Baby (Alec Baldwin) arrives at Tim’s home in a taxi, wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase. The instant sibling rivalry must soon be put aside when Tim discovers that Boss Baby is actually a spy on a secret mission, and only he can help thwart a dastardly plot that involves an epic battle between puppies and babies.

Okay. For me, this was honestly a good movie. I wasn’t expecting it to be good as I don’t really like the title, poster and I have read reviews saying that they didn’t like the movie.

The movie talks about sibling rivalries and the scene where they fight each other is actually true. Siblings could really fight a lot and I have to say that it’s realistic when it comes to that. However, since it’s a movie for kids, there are certain scenes that I didn’t like. There are bare booties and jokes about how babies are made. Also, the Baby Company is just so weird but the babies are just so cute.

This movie tackles about forgiveness and accepting one another in each other’s lives. I honestly disliked Boss Baby at first– he was so nosy and geez he’s so unlikeable, but as the movie goes on, his character changes and I loved him with that.

Some viewers may be offended on how this movie treats puppies where the puppies are made in a factory and they are like toys which can be spread through the whole world, but for me who is an absolute lover of cats and puppies, it’s alright. It’s just an imagination though and the forever puppy is really cute!

The message of the movie is really good and I really like it. However, there’s no wow factor and it wouldn’t make you tear up, but still, it’s a good movie that suits all ages. As I’ve said, the message of the movie was about acceptance and if you accept your sibling in your life, you could make a really great team.

My rating: 3/5.

And oh, I really liked the ending of the movie. I’ve researched about it and there would be a second movie coming up in year 2021.

Ah, it feels good to make another review! If you’re a certified film reviewer and you find my review weird, sorry. Ahah I’m starting with it.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading. I hope you liked this review– and always have a lovely time with your loved ones!

Have you watched The Boss Baby already? What can you say about it? I’m open to any response!

Kimi No Nawa Film Review

English name: Your Name

Mitsuha is the daughter of the mayor of a small mountain town. She’s a straightforward high school girl who lives with her sister and her grandmother and has no qualms about letting it be known that she’s uninterested in Shinto rituals or helping her father’s electoral campaign. Instead she dreams of leaving the boring town and trying her luck in Tokyo. Taki is a high school boy in Tokyo who works part-time in an Italian restaurant and aspires to become an architect or an artist. Every night he has a strange dream where he becomes…a high school girl in a small mountain town.

This was the first anime movie I’ve watched after long years. Last anime I’ve watched was Sword Art Online which was years ago! I’m not really into anime but almost everyone recommended it to me, and I thought I’d give it a try. And yes, after watching this, I’m all into anime again and this was just the start. Maybe I’ve watched 20+ anime series now.

Gods be good. This movie was so insane! I can’t believe how the writer of the story got the idea. It was just honestly good. It made me feel heartbroken for the two main characters but it’s still so good! Mitsuha and Taki are both so lovely and I love them so much.

If I would describe the movie in one word, it would be satisfying. I wasn’t expecting really well since I’m not into animes but dang, this was beyond everyone’s expectations, or at least that’s what I thought.

The animation and soundtrack are also good. Fun fact, I downloaded Your Name’s full soundtrack album in Spotify and it’s just so lovely. I would give this film 5 stars. Yes, absolutely, 5 stars.

I recommend this to everyone, even if you don’t watch anime. I didn’t, too. But after I watched this, I became hooked with it. When I was searching for pictures, I can’t help but feel really emotional. Please do watch it!

Let’s chat. Tell me if you’ve already watched this! Let me know in the comments below what are your reactions.
