Kimi No Nawa Film Review

English name: Your Name

Mitsuha is the daughter of the mayor of a small mountain town. She’s a straightforward high school girl who lives with her sister and her grandmother and has no qualms about letting it be known that she’s uninterested in Shinto rituals or helping her father’s electoral campaign. Instead she dreams of leaving the boring town and trying her luck in Tokyo. Taki is a high school boy in Tokyo who works part-time in an Italian restaurant and aspires to become an architect or an artist. Every night he has a strange dream where he becomes…a high school girl in a small mountain town.

This was the first anime movie I’ve watched after long years. Last anime I’ve watched was Sword Art Online which was years ago! I’m not really into anime but almost everyone recommended it to me, and I thought I’d give it a try. And yes, after watching this, I’m all into anime again and this was just the start. Maybe I’ve watched 20+ anime series now.

Gods be good. This movie was so insane! I can’t believe how the writer of the story got the idea. It was just honestly good. It made me feel heartbroken for the two main characters but it’s still so good! Mitsuha and Taki are both so lovely and I love them so much.

If I would describe the movie in one word, it would be satisfying. I wasn’t expecting really well since I’m not into animes but dang, this was beyond everyone’s expectations, or at least that’s what I thought.

The animation and soundtrack are also good. Fun fact, I downloaded Your Name’s full soundtrack album in Spotify and it’s just so lovely. I would give this film 5 stars. Yes, absolutely, 5 stars.

I recommend this to everyone, even if you don’t watch anime. I didn’t, too. But after I watched this, I became hooked with it. When I was searching for pictures, I can’t help but feel really emotional. Please do watch it!

Let’s chat. Tell me if you’ve already watched this! Let me know in the comments below what are your reactions.

  1. I haven’t watch it despite the popular and amazing reviews it got. However, I did watch the new Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale movie. It’s good alright. πŸ˜€

  4. I’ve seen Kimi No Wa Na!! It’s uh-mazing but I’m a total anime geek so there you go… I don’t want to think too hard about the plot though, I don’t think the timeline fits together logically but it’s just a beautiful film ❀

  5. I admit the timeline was confusing but it was explained nicely throughout the film, and it made me think of possibilities since my imagination’s awesome and in life, there’s nothing really impossible. Thank you for your comment! ❀
